Meet Dr. Matt West

Dr. Matt West received a Doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He also completed a residency through NCNM specializing in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, geriatrics, men’s health, and physical medicine. He completed a B.S. degree in Sociology and Nutrition from Weber State University. He has been practicing Naturopathic Medicine in the Salem area since 2004.

Dr. West’s philosophy is that the body has a natural ability to heal itself but sometimes it needs a little help. To do this, Dr. West uses diet, nutrition, herbs, and when appropriate pharmaceuticals to move the body toward wellness. His overall goal is to treat the person and not the disease. He spends adequate time to get to know his patients and their individual concerns.

Dr. West enjoys spending time with his family. He also likes to spend time outside biking, golfing, and hiking.

Dr. Marc Simon received a Doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the University of Bridgeport Connecticut, College of Naturopathic Medicine and is licensed in the states of VT and OR. He also attended the Facility of Medicine and Pharmacy, University State of Haiti, where he obtained a Medical Doctor degree in 2008.

As an MD in Haiti, Dr. Simon worked for Northwest Haitian Christian Mission, a non-profit organization that teamed with US missionary doctors and Haitian doctors, to provide primary medical, optometry, dental, and surgery care to the community. He then moved to the USA to be with his family and began his next challenge in the healthcare system. After several years working as an MD, Dr. Simon then decided to make the transition to naturopathic medicine.

With a degree in Nutrition, he feels “good food” is one of the most important aspects in an individual’s growth, health, and wellness. Currently, a majority of our food is made of chemicals and hormones which promotes degenerative diseases such as cancer, metabolic disorders, autoimmune disease, and other diseases. This leads to the destruction of our society. There is nothing more exciting to Dr. Simon, than the idea of being in a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Healthy eating habits shape a person’s body, keeps it free from foreign invaders capable of deregulating its function. Thousands of years ago, indigenous people used natural food in an integral aspect of healing.

Dr. Simon believes in growing and adapting towards becoming an excellent healthcare professional to continue caring for patients. He feels that integrated models of health science are the best approach to promote well-being, which to him, is the definition of medicine. The assertion of the modern medicine, “one size fits all”, fails. God makes and shapes us different even when we all look alike. Medical practice should be personalized to everyone to achieve whole-body health.
